My Journey to Becoming a Wedding Planner

I was the designated flower girl for all of my parents' friends as they got married… I guess it just stuck!

At 19, I applied to be a day-of wedding assistant for a local planner. I quickly became that girl who said ‘oh sorry I can’t, I have a wedding this weekend’ and I loved every second of it! The feeling that I got when I was able to make a difference in the biggest day of this couples’ lives was a surreal experience. As time went on, I saw more and more couples having a ten minute ceremony, prioritizing the party with their friends after. And let’s be honest, we all love a good party but I kept thinking about how I wanted my future wedding to feel and knew I couldn’t be the only one who wanted a different focus.

As a Catholic, weddings aren’t all about the decor and partying and checking off the traditional boxes- they’re life changing. Two become one through the sacrament of matrimony as loved ones witness your ‘yes’ to one another and to the vocation God has planned for you.

Once I realized this gap existed, it was blinding and all I saw for the next few years working as an assistant for different companies. I always dreamt of starting my own company but figured that would be years down the road once I was married and having kids… well that was until 2021 when I started to see God’s plan revealed for my role in weddings and come July, I officially launched Cana Wedding Co.

Now I spend my days dreaming up stunning weddings that reflect the love of the couple and the love of the Lord. I genuinely adore being there for my couples as they experience the growth and joy that accompany this life changing season. I come in and guide them through the wedding planning process so that they can truly focus on preparing for marriage. Many of my couples are moving, getting new jobs, and so so many other major life events during their engagement. The last thing they need to be stressed by are the little details of wedding planning. I’m here to help take those off the to-do list so that couples can truly flourish and enter into marriage with a beaming heart.
